Toll Management System (TMS)
IN TODAY’S scenario there is a great number of traffic on the road. It is very important to collect a toll tax in managed way so that it would not result in a total unorganized jungle of traffic. It is very challenging to handle a vehicular flow by a manual system of revenue collection. There is a great chance that toll plaza may get large traffic and it will stop the manual system completely and there would be a great chaos. This would not be desired any one.
TMS provides a complete solution for the management of the working of the toll plaza of the company. TMS provides a systematic way of revenue collection. It consists of software and hardware components. Software provides a user friendly interface to interact with the hardware. Hardware components are connected with LAN to the server.
Main features of the TMS are summarized below:
Lane hardware devices
Vehicle entry and exit detector
This device is used to detect the presence and exit of the vehicle. Loop has a interlock features so that device is active only when vehicle is in proximity.
Boom barrier
Barrier is a heavy-duty metallic arm connected with lane controller. It is used to restrict the vehicle access. It works in synchronization with the lane controller.
RFID reader
This is used by the user who has owned a pass. Tag is read automatically by it when vehicle is in proximity.
Camera
Camera takes a photograph of the vehicle and used for cross checking.
Smart card reader/writer
Reader is used to take information from pre-paid smart card. Smart card can be recharged.
Lane controller
Lane controller is the intermediary between software and lane hardware. It converts software command into corresponding hardware action.
Traffic light signal
This is a LED based light signal to guide the user whether he supposed to go or stop.
OHLS
This is a LED based light signal positioned on the top of the lane. It shows that whether lane is closed or open.
UFD
This is an alpha numeric LED based display which can be seen by a user up to a 100 feet distance.
Software
Basic Toll Management System
The Basic TMS software provides a basic facility for the management of toll plaza. It does not include RFID tag and smart card controlling system.
Advanced Toll Management system
The Advanced TMS software is comprehensive and user-friendly. It provides RFID tag and smart card controlling system.
